This is a reposted episode. I am in the process of moving my older episodes over to my new website. If you have already listened you can ignore or listen again. If you are new here….enjoy the archives!!!
Today’s episode involves an interview with Rachel of Contented and some discussion about the quilt along which officially kicks off today. The official kick off post can be found here on Rachel’s blog today. I hope you enjoy the podcast. It does get a bit emotional at the end as I talk about World Alzheimer’s Day which is today but I won’t apologize for that – I love my grandma and hate to see her suffer.
I had so much fun with Rachel’s interview and she was a great sport by sharing some of her first’s. For example here is her first quilt…
Also, when Rachel first started quilting she made herself a sewing machine cover. Now….remember this was early in her sewing career. Her words are “God, I can’t believe I’m going to let you show this, it’s so awful!” I completely disagree…not awful – just a learning experience! Here are a couple shots of that.
I can prove this sewing machine cover was a learning experience. Just look at the beautiful work she is doing today. These are the two QT quilts she made for the 2 rounds of the swap she participated in. I love the circle one….
Now on to her sewing space! It starts off innocent enough. Here is a picture of her sewing machine sitting on a cute little mug rug of sorts…
Then an overlook of the sideboard (a few bins here and there but not too messy)…
Then we move on to what Rachel affectionately refers to as “the jumble sale”. This is where she stores her scraps and such of fabric (this needs some straightening up but doable)….
Then this is the one I gave her a real hard time about…the large pieces that aren’t even folded. The OCD part of my almost went into convulsions. I was having heart palpitations.
|Seriously, just fold it up! I love ya Rachel !|
Rachel, must have felt sorry for me because she sent me this just a couple of days later…
|Isn’t that better? So, much better!!|
Even though I gave Rachel a hard time, she really is a great person with what seems to be a great family. You will really enjoy the sweetness of her blog.
I hope you will join us in the quilt along. Please go over to her blog (Contented) and check out the kick-off post. She will have all the information there (and it is in the podcast). Feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns. Oh and don’t forget to join the Flickr Group (we are having some very interesting discussions).
We have a great sponsor, The Intrepid Thread, who is offering a 15% discount for all participants. You have contact Rachel or I for the discount code (no longer valid). Also, Julie is hosting the giveaway at the end of the QAL – a $25 gift certificate to her shop. You must participate along the way and then post a picture of your project at the end to be entered.
