January Progress – Mid month

Before we go any further let me say a couple of things about the giveaway: I have removed Rafflecopter – just like my Facebook page and you are golden. If you haven’t liked my FB page, yet do so and you will be entered to win a FQ bundle from Fluffy Sheep Quilting.

OK now about that progress…..we are half way through the first month of the first quarter of 2013. Which means we are 1/24 of the way through 2013…..and I have finished 4 of my 30 projects. I already shared pics of the Wheel Chair Bag. Here is one more:

A little background on the first project. Several years ago my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimers. She is currently in a nursing home and has lost all sense of who she is and who her family is. It has been a long battle for her. About 3 years ago, I decided to make a quilt to support the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI). After making the quilt, I was unable to donate the quilt because, as strange as it might sound, by letting go of the quilt I felt like I was letting go of my grandmother. Well, it is time. For whatever reason, this weekend felt like the right time. Oddly, about an hour after I received the number for the quilt (can’t mail it in without a number), granny went in the hospital with pneumonia.

The quilt is now numbered and will ship this afternoon. Please support the AAQI in any way you can! Read about it and spread the word if you can do nothing else!

I named this quilt Beautiful Bedlam because when you look in my grandmother's eyes you no longer see peace but instead bedlam but she is still beautiful!

I also finished Foo’s Quilt. If you will recall, I had to add the label and re-stitch the binding down (for the second time). Foo is a quilter so I decided to be a bit creative with the label. She will love it!:

I had a couple change purses to make. They don’t qualify for the FAL but they were on my list. DONE!

I bought all my supplies for these changes purses from one of the sponsors of the 2013 Finish A LongWhile Baby Naps. Wonderful shop! Also, I use her tutorial and it is super! No cording needed! Super easy!!!

There you have my 4 projects. Tomorrow I will show you my three “monthlys”. They are also done. I am currently finishing up the tutorial for the Fluffy Sheep Quilting newsletter (placemats – and not your ordinary ones – you don’t want to miss these). Better go sign up so you don’t miss out on this yummy FREE tutorial! Go here and scroll down to the bottom right hand side of the page and put your email address in the box….done!

Ok….back tomorrow with more finishes!!!! I told y’all….I am after the prizes this year!
